Introducing.......um....Should I really do this?

Dear diary, (and you too, I suppose)

I have been a blogger "user" for probably 5 years now. I say "user" because I didn't create it to actually write anything. I simply needed a resource for syndicating content. Well, my syndicating needs have since dissolved and now I find myself subscribing to and reading blogs from friends. Real friends, not the Facebook "I think I saw you once, but never talked to you, and I don't want to be rude, so I will add you." type of "friend". I have never had any trouble coming up with something to say, but I have found that I don't quite fit the blogger type.

I have always regarded blogging as a great idea for those who really would use it, but use it for a real purpose. You know, it would have meaning to others, not just themselves. That kind of purpose. Most every blog I subscribe to is written by someone far away from me. I find that I can remain somewhat attached to their life just by reading their latest rant. I wouldn't have otherwise been privileged to their thoughts, so I find it useful in that way.

So I am just asking myself, "Should I really do this?". Should I start something like this? I, maybe unnecessarily, am requiring myself to meet certain criteria before I begin. Beyond the basics like spelling, grammar, etc.

Here are my requirements:

1. It must have a purpose for someone other than me. (purpose = accomplish)

2. I must be posting regularly. (regularly = at least monthly)

3. Last, but not least, someone should probably read it. (reader = You. Apparently.)

So I battle with those self-made standards for blogging. This post meets none of those requirements to my knowledge. I think that I will start with just simply scribing thoughts. That may lead to a more mature blog later. Comment if you have thoughts regarding what I should write about. I may or may not agree with you, but take the risk anyway. I will even take requests at this point. Want to hear about something for that special someone? Just call me up and say "Hey Matye, spin me a story for my heartie!".

I do intend to continue.....

Mesi! Bondye beni ou.
